History

MicroComputer Systems Ltd was established in 1990 by software developers – Richard Jeary and Kent Jeary. The company’s primary focus was the design and development of customized computer software solutions. In response to its customer demand and an increasing clientele, the company diversified into the supply also of computer hardware and peripherals.

MicroComputer Systems Ltd has been one of the leading computer service companies in Trinidad and Tobago. In December, 2001, the company’s markets were differentiated. MicroComputer Systems Ltd undertook then to focus on hardware sales and service; and a new company, MCS Software Ltd, was formed to handle all software development, sales and support. At that stage, one of our earliest software clients, Peter Baillie, showed interest in becoming a shareholder of the new company and has since been made a director also.

Since 1990, the development team of MCS Software Ltd has been producing customized software; the primary language being Digital Research Compiled Basic. We have written applications such as Payroll, Inventory Control, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger and Fast Food Delivery to name a few. These applications were all custom-designed for individual clients. We have also performed modifications and re-writes of existing off-the-shelf products to our clients’ specifications. When the market demand shifted towards Windows and the Windows ‘95’ Graphical User Interfaces (GUI), MCS Software Ltd started programming in Microsoft Visual Basic.

In recent years, MCS Software Ltd has focused its efforts on payroll, time and attendance, and human resource management packages. Having specialized in these programs, it has achieved a reputation in the market for its unparalleled proficiency and support. In 2008, its clientele exceeds 500 companies.

Activites

MCS Software Ltd is currently engaged in the marketing and sales of three (3) of its products:

  • MicroPay® Payroll Software

    MicroPay Payroll Software has been developed for specific application in Trinidad & Tobago. As a consequence, it is unrivalled when compared even with internationally reputed software adapted for local payroll processing. It uses solutions to make payroll management a simple and effective process for every type of organization – private, public or governmental – with payrolls of twenty-five or fewer employees or unlimited complement. Monthly preparation of documentation for remittance of statutory deductions/contributions is done merely at a click of the mouse. Stocking of statutory remittance forms is no longer required; these are automatically printed and simultaneously filled in with the necessary data. Annual preparation of TD4 Supplementary forms is a similar cinch with MicroPay.

  • MicroPay® Time & Attendance Module

    When integrated with MicroPay payroll software, this module obviates the need for ‘stone-age’ time clock cards or attendance registers. Employees’ reporting and knock-off times are captured by the mere swiping of their barcode ID cards or scanning of the palm of their hand. These recorded times are then imported into MicroPay at the end of the payment period for automatic payroll preparation.

  • MicroHR® Human Resource Management Module

    This module was completed in the last quarter of 2008. It is a comprehensive HRM system that will include payroll functionality when integrated with MicroPay. It can be customized as a ‘stand-alone’ package, if required. All the needs of human resource management – recruitment, employee records maintenance, job appraisal, leave tracking & scheduling, probation and other reminders, accident & injury reporting, severance liability calculations, disciplinary letters, succession planning, company hierarchy etc – are satisfied. In addition, MicroHR goes beyond in providing two (2) exceptional functions – Job Evaluation (as distinct from Job Appraisal) and Medical Plan Claims calculation and tracking.

Current Project

A project, titled ‘Complete Business Solution’, is currently in the design stage and will be developed using the new Microsoft.Net technology. Details of this program would be made available at a later stage.

Internet, Intranet and Extranet Design & Development

Our subsidiary company, Matrix Designs Ltd, handles web site and application design development and comprises a team of experienced programmers, artists, and business/customer support experts, dedicated to providing the highest quality of service.
